A question I often get is: Do the horses damage the ice floor? Answer: No, not at all. They scratch it no more then ice-skaters.

Horses in indoor ice rinks, what impact do they have on the ice floor? On the photo on your left you can see nails that are used for the horse shoes we use in our shows. Two ice nails along with two spikes/studs is all the            isskeifa   horses need to perform on the ice. The impact on the ice is if something less then by a ice-skater. The harder the ice is the less impact the horse shoe has on the ice floor.

As you can see on the photos the impact the horses have on the ice floor is minimum. After a long show with many horses a Zambonie polishes the floor in a few minutes. After a short show with just a few horses, 4-6, the ice floor needs no treatment for the ice-skaters to perform on the ice. The photos have not been edited in any way. In MI we did a 70 minute show with 15-20 horses. Fifteen minutes later they were playing hockey on the ice floor.
